UMI meditation is a simple, easy technique that allows the mind and body to settle down providing deep rest while at the same time creating space for expanded awareness.

The UMI Semitic tradition uses easy ancient breathing and external/internal sound vibration techniques that draw the mind deep within to the Cosmic Sea. The sound vibrations come from the Hebrew letters that the UMI certified teacher is trained to choose for each individual student.

The UMI meditation techniques come from an ancient Semitic tradition of the Middle East. Most other forms of meditation come from the Vedic tradition of the Far East.

Short answer - no, UMI does not have a Jewish denominational affiliation. UMI’s theology and ethos is one of openness, drawing on wisdom and practice from across the Jewish tradition rather than any single movement. Our approach is influenced by Jewish Renewal, particularly in our emphasis on meditation, embodied practice, and direct spiritual experience — but we strive for a space of plurality, and welcome participants and teachers from all backgrounds and denominations.

UMI has a residence with 7 bedrooms. The number of beds per room varies with some rooms having a single queen sized bed, some with two singles, and others with three singles in the room. Bathrooms are shared with other participants and some bedrooms have a bathroom attached.

UMI keeps a kosher style pescatarian kitchen. Food on retreats is always vegetarian, and sometimes includes fish. Retreat chefs are sensitive to participants with allergies, GF, DF, vegan, or kosher diets and can accommodate.

UMI always prefers that retreat participants attend the entirety of a retreat to create a safe and intimate community of participants. Some retreats are more flexible than others. Please contact Noah Leavitt at Noah@unifyingmeditation.org to inquire about a specific retreat.

Retreats:
UMI has a 7 day refund policy. Seven days or more before the retreat, a full refund can be issued. Within 7 days of a retreat, UMI charges 20% of the full retreat cost.

Day Events:
UMI has a 24 hour refund policy. Twenty four hours or more before the event, a full refund can be issued. Within twenty four hours, UMI charges 50% of the full event cost.
